Know about your car.. No overheating

There are lots of people who find it very frustrating to deal with the car overheating problem. The car overheating is an issue which should never be ignored and should be addressed promptly. If the overheating problem occurs on a regular basis it can even cause damage to your car engine.

Overheating problems in car can occur due number of reasons. The most common reason behind the car overheating problem is a stuck thermostat. Basically the stuck thermostat can stick or even freeze in the closed position blocking the flow of coolant to your car engine.

Another commonly found reason for car overheating problem is due to the leak in the car’s cooling system. If your car is losing coolant there will not be enough left in the vehicle to keep it cool. This is easy to diagnose as the radiator will be low on fluid and there will probably be a pool of coolant on the floor of the garage.

It is recommended that you keep a regular check for leaks in the most common places like around hoses and around the welds of your radiator. But in case you do not find the leak it is better to take your car to the car repair shop to have the cooling system pressure tested.

Sometimes this problem can also occur due to the faulty water pump. The water pump is a vital part of the car’s cooling system since it is responsible for circulating coolant through the engine. Due to a faulty water pump your car will not run for more than a few minutes without overheating.

It can be also due to lack of antifreeze. For those who know where the antifreeze and its reserve tank are on their car can add about a half a cup of water. The antifreeze will be diluted, but with the added water it should be enough to circulate throughout the engine, and overheating can be prevented this way.

It is highly recommended that you be prepared to handle your car’s overheating by always keeping a flashlight, supply of water, antifreeze and brake fluid in your car. You can avoid overheating to a great extend by making sure that you always have a sufficient amount of anti-freeze.
